The Rise of Human Spaces in the Age of AI
Let’s talk about creativity and human creators in the age of artificial intelligence.
AI is ending scarcity in creative work.
Soon, there will be an infinite amount of music, video, writing and imagery competing for our attention. When content becomes endless, the artifact itself becomes less valuable simply because there is so much of it.
I think that changes where value moves.
It moves toward what I call human spaces.
A human space is everything around the work that connects it to a real person: who made it, why they made it, what they lived through, the mistakes, relationships, heartbreak, community and history behind it.
AI can generate a song, a painting, a book or a film.
But it cannot have lived the life behind them.
That human context is going to matter more.
We will still care about the artifact, but increasingly we will also care about the person, the story, the process and the community around it.
That is where I think a new kind of creative scarcity will emerge.
Not in the content itself.
In the human life around it.
The age of infinite content may also become the age of human spaces.
